Welcome to
ASSYRIAN CHRISTIAN RALLY
OUR MISSION
As citizens and permanent residents of Australia, we request for the Australian Government to take the following measures to ensure that all the Christian Assyrians of Iraq including Chaldeans and Syriacs are saved from further atrocities and secured safety. We call on the Australian Government to act on the following:
1. Establish an Assyrian self-administered region in Northern Iraq:
- To establish a safe & self-administered Assyrian region in Nineveh Plains (of Northern Iraq), the size of which must reflect not only numbers currently still in Iraq, but the capacity to cater on a sustainable level the return of currently displaced Assyrians refugees outside of Iraq and future growth of the population through birth and return-migration from the West.
- The safe resettlement of Assyrian refugees who have fled Iraq and wish to return to the Assyrian region.
- For the Assyrian region to be legislated in Iraq's government & supported by the UN and Coalition governments.
- To provide ongoing budgetary allocation from Iraq's central government, administrative infrastructure building (including personnel who must be Assyrian), and non-Arab & non-Kurdish UN/Coalition-based military presence for the duration of Iraq's complete transition to democracy and stabilisation. Such region must include basic necessities such as housing, educational, industry and produce/farming development.
- We require and demand the same level and status of protection and self-determination as the Kurds have been given by Iraqi, UN and Coalition governments.
2. Permit a special Refugee and Humanitarian intake for Assyrians refugees under a temporary protection and/or permanent residence program.
- To identify Assyrian refugees as “Assyrian” rather than “Iraqi”, thereby specifically identifying this significant group in need of urgent humanitarian aid.
- To make provisions for a 20% intake of Assyrian Christian including Chaldean & Syriac refugees currently in the Middle East (that is, approximately 100,000 persons) over a 5-year period, to be settled in regional locations in Australia.
- To lobby Coalition governments in Iraq to take similar measures for the salvation of Assyrian Christian refugees.
